The 7th of March

Having worked all night again I am writing this on the morning of the 8th.  Generally my overnights get me home around 3 or 4.  It is just after 9:30 AM and I have not gone to bed yet.  I had to pull over for a power nap on my way home.  I really wish I hadn't been so tired.  I kept falling asleep at work and got lucky more times than I care to admit on the drive home.  Had I been more awake I may have been able to work faster and get home earlier.  As it was, Hunter was in the house way too long.  When I got home he was having a mild seizure.  I think it has been over a year since he has had one.  I got home around 8 and have been taking care of him for the most part since then.  He seems to be okay now.  Stiff, but he has eaten and been outside to do his business.  I am hoping after we both rest he will want to play.  If not, I will be calling the vet.  This incident is why I need to work harder at either making my hours more regular or finding a different job.

From this I will head straight to something happy.  Sleep is something I am eagerly awaiting now and will consider that a happy for today, er... the 7th.  Since I keep falling asleep typing this, that and the pictures below are my happy things.

It is hard to tell from this picture, but there is a new light layer of ice on the lake.

Monday, March 6th

Gideon was sick off and on all night.  Poor little guy.  He came down and snuggled with me in the morning and was fine for the rest of the day from what I have been told.  Unfortunately, a drainage pipe at my daughter's house broke so I am back home for the night.  I still have no water and will make some calls in the morning to see what I can do about that.  I have to work all day tomorrow and won't get much done around the house.

Despite the many things going wrong in my life right now I still have many things to be happy about.  My grandson loves me to the moon and back-using a conveyor belt with a big truck that can go back and forth.  ðŸ˜Š  The moon and the sun are in the sky together for parts of the day now and I like to view that through the eyes of a child.  My children and I are in fairly good health.  I am blessed with many friends.  I have a large and mostly loving extended family.  ðŸ˜‰  Tuesday is trash day so more stuff is leaving my house.  My dog is usually a good dog.  These are some of the things that make me happy.

Snowbank today in Maine.

Just driving...
It was a beautiful day.

The 5th of March

Today, I probably should have worked at my job, but I didn't.  I went to the house and worked on getting some things packed up.  A friend came by and took away almost all of my jars and my loom.  So the problem of where to store my loom is no longer looming over me. ;) He will keep it at his place and he may even get it warped and use it.  When I am done hiking and resettled I can get it back.  There is still a long way to go, but progress was made.  There are a few things I would have liked to have done before I left the house today but Gideon, my grandson, is sick so I came back to my daughter's with some meds for him instead.

My happy for today is that I got to spend the day with a friend that I haven't been able to spend time with in a LONG time.  Also, I spoke with my son for a few minutes and another old friend on the phone today.

Other than the tee-shirt (bottom ) I forgot to take pictures so I snapped this one of Hunter sleeping.

Here is the tee shirt I found.  I cant remember what the symbol is.
It will be going to Goodwill or some other donation place.

March the Fourth

Apparently it is difficult for me to not think about the hike.  I guess that means I really want to do it.  While brushing my teeth tonight I used a half sized toothbrush.  It is one of the travel ones that the long part of the handle is a holder.  I brushed my teeth without putting it together to its full length.  One of the things long distance hikers do is to cut off the end of their toothbrush to reduce the weight.  With my shorter handled brush I mashed my thumb nail into my nose!  I guess this will take practice too!

This morning, prior to the awesome Gideon snuggles, I got a call from a friend.  He is going to go to my house tomorrow to take away SO MANY canning jars.  We had a nice talk and I am looking forward to seeing him Sunday.  Those are my happy things for today.

This is a crock pot soaking for wash.
I love the patterns the water/fats/ingredients/soap made.

March 3rd

All I want to do is plan for my hike.  All I will be doing for the next few weeks is clean house and work.  Therefore, I am going to concentrate my blog on these things.  I cannot seem to concentrate on getting my house empty without being distracted by hike planning. I cannot do the hike until the house is empty and sold.  My house is falling apart, it has decided that now is the time to break.  All I can do is try to find cheap ways to fix it.  So my blogs will be concentrating mostly on happy things again for a while.

Because of house problems I am staying with my daughter and her family.  Getting snuggles in the morning from my grandson was certainly the highlight of my day and made me happy.  Being able to help my daughter by doing dishes so that she could concentrate her energies on cleaning other parts of her kitchen was also a happy thing.  Does washing dishes make me happy you may ask?  Well, clean dishes do.  :) More importantly, it is an easy task that made someone else's work a little lighter for the day, and that is what makes me happy.

I forgot to take a picture again today, well, until it was really late...
There was a snow squall earlier.
The dark and lights from where I was parked I thought looked kind of neat.

March the 2nd

Last night while getting ready for bed the water pump for my house broke.  So I spent the first part of the day doing what I had planned and helping out with an end of year report and the rest of the day doing things in the cellar and talking with people and generally trying to find a way to fix it, cheap.  It isn't fixed, well, replaced because Home Depot doesn't carry the parts.  Tomorrow more people will be looking at it while I go to work.  The lesson here is to never own a home.... Okay, not really, the lesson is to learn how to maintain your home and if you can't do it yourself, be prepared to pay someone to for it for you.  For now, I just want things working and to get the house ready to sell.  I want it to all happen for me magically.  ;)  Haha!  Well, it will be a lot of work, but it will get done.  It has to.

My happy for today is the generosity of friends and family.  I can't say enough about how grateful I am and at the same time I have not the right words to express them.  ðŸ’–

While driving home today I passed a lake that is in the broken up part of the melting ice phase.
I pulled over to take pictures.
The day was very windy and there are white caps on the water.
All the ice was pushed towards the shore where I parked.

Welcome to March!!

Originally I had hoped to head to Georgia in the middle of March.  Now I am far enough behind on selling my house that I am doubting this will happen.  But it must happen.
My daughter and her son, Gideon, came by today and took some things that were for her.  We also went through some boxes upstairs and some things will be given away, some stored, some to Goodwill and some trash.  2 bags of trash are in the bin today.  Every little bit helps to lighten the load.

A friend of mine started a Facebook group where she suggests almost daily exercises.  The last few days I have been keeping up.  I need to also do the ones my doctor recommended.

Another friend made me a knitted cover for my hands free set.  The objective is that it will keep the wires and bits from getting tangled in my hair.  So far so good for that.  There are 5 pieces though and I am concerned I will lose some.  I am also not sure I put it together the way I was supposed to but I will figure out the best way for me.

Snuggle and playful kisses time with Gideon are my happy for today.

This morning, there was some ice on the lake.
This afternoon, when the picture was taken, there is almost none.
