June 19th-Vlog

Today is the wedding anniversary of Gideon's parents so I am watching him while they enjoy an evening out.  A little while ago we were thinking about sleep and I looked at my pedometer and had a ways to go if I wanted to get in my step count for the day.  Gideon agreed to go for a walk before bed to help me reach my goal.  There have been rain showers today so we put on our rain stuff and headed out.  When we got home I was about 225 steps from my goal.  I paced a little and now can go to sleep.  Gideon was great at encouraging me to get out and a real good sport in helping me achieve today's step count.  That is my happy for today.  Now we are going to fall asleep to a YouTube video on how pedometers work.

The song Gideon was singing.

June 18th-Sunday-Vlog

There were some very loud crows outside the tent this morning that woke me up way too early.  The weekend seemed to go pretty well.  Yesterday they held the Palio games.  For a little bit about what Palio games are, here is a link.  We break our group up into areas to compete with historical games.  There is cheese rolling, hoop rolling and bean bag toss for the kids, fencing and ratan fighting to name a few.

Here are some pictures from Saturday:

On Sunday there are two tournaments, one for heavy fighters and one for fencers.  These are specifically for newer people to the SCA.  When all of these activities are over the Baron and Baronessa hold a court to recognize people for their accomplishments and for announcements and sometimes some shtik.  My daughter became a member of the Order of the Millstone for service to the Barony.

Here are some pictures from today:

This weekend was full of proud momma moments as I witnessed my daughter running this event, getting the award and just to see how she has grown into this talented and beautiful woman.  That is today's happy.

June 16th Friday

We are camping at an event of the SCA.  My daughter is the event steward so she organized it this year.   There have been quite a few showers today so things are kind of damp.   Tomorrow there will be games modeled after the Palio games on Italy.

Gideon has friends to play with all weekend.   Tomorrow we will try to put together a video but we won't be able to post it until Sunday because there is no free WiFi here.

Since I am falling asleep I will end with my happy for today which is having a dry tent, warm sleeping bag and good friends.

Our home for the weekend.

June 15th

Morning thoughts...
As I sit here eating breakfast,  by myself,  in a restaurant, I reflect on how much I have changed.   The drive-thru chains of today were invented for shy introverts like me.   Where minimum contact with a real person will sate ones appetite while depleting ones wallet and health.  I am not yet at the point where I am willing to start a conversation with other people in the restaurant,  but I feel like this is, perhaps, a small step out of my box.  Most importantly for me today, the food is real.

Evening thoughts...

It took me too long to determine if the word drive-thru has a plural.  The internet didn't find it.😏

The restaurant I ate at this morning doesn't appear to have a website.  😞

My teeth were cleaned by professionals today-before breakfast.  😁

The tingling in my hand that had become almost non-existent, is recurring.  😔

Most of this happened after my visit with the OT today. 😟

My daughter is running an event this weekend.  🙀

There was not enough red sky tonight to give me much hope for tomorrow.  😒

I probably should check out weather.com rather than relying on the color of the sunset.  😉

Work happened.  😆

So did daydreaming about what I hope will be a new business venture.  😎

But probably won't happen because... introvert.  😶

Crackers and milk with brown sugar is not a healthy supper.  😋

I love you.  😘

So I will refrain from coming up with so many thoughts that I use ALL the emojis.  😂

Really.  😜

There are still a bunch more.  😝

🙈🙉🙊

Part of my breakfast view.

Today's happy is clean teeth and emojis.  🙌  It is amazing how much of a difference getting my teeth cleaned at the dentist makes vs brushing my teeth a couple times a day.  I have happy teeth tonight.

OH!  I almost forgot... while waiting for a walk signal after breakfast I noticed a squirrel on the utility wire.  The road was busy so I didn't take a photo.  When the lights changed for me to cross, so did the squirrel, above the cars.  Too funny!  It was almost like it was waiting for the beeping that the walk signal makes to go.  Hmm... June 14th-Wednesday-vlog

This morning I stumbled upon a new Appalachian Trail You Tuber (Alyse).  She seems to be vegan and so has an interesting bunch of food stuffs that I found intriguing.  Here is a Link to the first video I saw and this is the one on what they brought for food.  My injury has given me more time to prepare and I need to be using it wisely.  Food is a good thing.  There is at least one fruit that I have never heard of before that she mentions in that second video.  She also re-hydrates the dried fruit and I am curious if she is doing that because of how the fruit was dehydrated, she just likes it that way, or if there is some other reason.  Watching all the stuff that she brought reminded me that I've wanted to make myself some pemmican bars, vegetarian ones if possible.  That is definitely something to explore recipes for now.

There was another gorgeous sunset tonight.  The old saying "Red sky at night, Sailors delight" seems to be holding true this week.  The temperature is much less overbearing than it was.

Lately at work I have been paying more attention to the songs that are piped into the stores.  The end result of this is that, when some songs come on, I am doing a fair amount of quiet singing and tiny sways to the music.  That is my happy for today.

June 13th-musings

This morning my daughter and I talked arts & crafts before I headed off to my appointment with the OT and work.  She has been doing a lot of painting recently.  Well, illumination really.  I watch her from the other side of the living room as she scrolls through, well, scrolls as well as books and manuscripts that are online.  After she chooses one she traces and paints it.  There are a lot more steps than that.  The steps are what we talked about.  How she has broken down into steps what needs to happen and in what orders, for the art to happen.  Not just the art of illumination but for embroidery stitches and weaving.  She breaks it all up into 2 steps, even if it is a series of 2 step increments.  When I describe how the tablet weaving I do is just 4 steps she decides that is too many.  My goal now is to turn tablet weaving into a 2 step process instead of 4 that someday I may teach her how to weave that way.  She has no problem with inkle weaving, that is a 2 step process.  😊

Sometimes it is the small things that make for the happy of the day.  After working for 7 hours on my feet and then driving the 1.5 hours to get home tonight taking off my shoes and socks felt like heaven.

How often do trees just grow together like that?

Or is it some trim job from days gone by?

Because this song popped into my head.
