September 19th--

Late this afternoon I went on the Kimball Jenkins Old North Cemetery Tour.  It was hosted by Kimball Jenkins School of Art and sponsored by the Concord Historical Society.  The woman who presented the tour did her research on some of the prominent families from Concord who are buried there or have ties with the art school.  She had genealogy research for the area Kimball family from the first in the family down the line to the woman who founded the school.  Only the first 2 or 3 Kimball generations are buried there, others of that line are buried in a different local cemetery.

The Walker family have the first person buried there (a 4 year old from the 1700's) and the last from 2016.  We also visited the Stickney Mausoleum, though not the inside, 'Nancy,' some others and the 14th President of the United States as the finale.  The Stickney Mausoleum has some stained glass that is apparently pretty spectacular when viewed in the morning with the sun coming through.  'Nancy' was a slave as a child, freed and remained with the family until she passed and is buried alongside the family who originally owned her.

The cemetery tour is today's happy.

The little stone in the background is the first burial,
the large in the front is the last in this cemetery.

I just thought the tree was pretty.

Another that I just thought was pretty.

This lichen covered monument was placed where the Quakers are said to be buried.

This was in front on the Quaker stone.
