This afternoon and evening I got to watch Gideon while his parents attended a wedding. We sat in the AC in his parents room for a little bit and played on the computer. When it was time to eat lunch we went downstairs and pretty much stayed there the rest of the day. We tried to do a little science experiment. Gideon made it up and I let him follow through with his idea. Here are the 2 videos with that.
We then discussed capillary action.
Later on we did a more traditional baking soda and vinegar style volcano. We watched a few videos on YouTube and he had no desire to actually make a volcano out of dough or putty or paper mache, and then painting it to look like a volcano. So we skipped that part, found a water bottle in the recycle bin, put some baking soda, a little water and a drop of dish soap into the bottle and took it outside. There we wedged it between some bricks and poured in the vinegar.
After more research on experiments you can do at home we found one where we tried to layer liquids into a rainbow. I read the colors wrong and we didn't have any corn syrup so it wasn't really a rainbow, but some layered colors.
Today my happy is science with Gideon as seen above. 😊
More pictures from today including some from the walk.
