The 12th of November

So far, it has been an okay writing day.  This morning I worked on getting the bedroom organized after yesterday's rearranging and build.  Then I joined my daughter at a local coffee shop where she and some friends meet to write.  I found it difficult to actually concentrate on my story that I was attempting for nano.  I would start writing and either be distracted by the conversations going on around me or by research.  Research that needed to happen for the story to unfold, but the end result is that I only wrote about 450 more words.  I think I had 144 and now there are 618.

The research was really just dealing with minutia.  What should I name the characters dogs?  What season do I want to make it.  What constellation would be in the sky if it is October, early in the morning?  Some of these things may not matter and they could have waited for another time for me to research.  Since it is highly unlikely that this is something that would be published, why does it even matter if I get a constellation wrong?  Considering that conversations were also a distraction, it was probably a good time to do research.  Either way, if I want to get this done this month, I have a LONG way to go.  I need to write 2600 words a day for the rest of the month to complete the NaNoWriMo challenge of 50,000.  At this point I will be happy with 5000 words, total, by the end of the month.  Time being a commodity that I don't seem to have much of.

For the first time since my hand injury in March I walked with a small backpack.  It had my laptop and 2 notebooks and some miscellaneous stuff.  I weighed it when I got home: 14.6 pounds.  My body tell I did this.  Not a lot of weight, but enough for me to take notice.  I got about 2.77 miles in around town.  Walking is my happy for today.  Last night, I realized that I have been getting depressed.  Perhaps seasonal depression.  Anyhow, for me, walking helps that some.  At least while I am doing it.  😊
